Our Popular Music program brings collective music education into the traditions and sounds that connect our community. Students develop instrumental technique, rhythmic precision, ensemble listening, and stage presence while exploring Latin American, Caribbean, Mexican, Tex-Mex, and rock repertoire.
Learning by making music together
In the spirit of El Sistema, popular traditions are part of a serious musical education. Learning together connects technical growth with cultural knowledge, creative expression, and respect for the music of different communities.
Symphonic Mariachi
Mariachi tradition meets collective musical training, with attention to instrumental technique, stylistic character, and Mexican and Tex-Mex heritage.
Symphonic Rock
Electric and electronic instruments bring rock repertoire to life through rhythmic precision, amplified sound, and stage presence.
Music of the Plains
The traditions of the Venezuelan and Colombian plains connect students with instruments such as the cuatro, maracas, harp, bandola, and mandolin.
