Children from El Sistema Texas Delight the Community with a Symphonic Concert
* The Hispanic Children’s Symphonic Choir, the Hispanic Preparatory Symphony Orchestra, and the Hispanic Children’s Symphony Orchestra of El Sistema Texas elevated the roots of the Spanish-speaking community in the United States with their musical notes.
The children from El Sistema Texas showcased their talent at Central Green Park in the city of Katy, Texas, during their performance as part of the programming scheduled for Hispanic Heritage Month, which is celebrated annually during September in the United States.
Over 150 people from different nationalities came together, shared, and enjoyed this community concert, where the children who are part of the Hispanic Children’s Symphonic Choir, the Hispanic Preparatory Symphony Orchestra, and the Hispanic Children’s Symphony Orchestra of El Sistema Texas harmonized the evening with a repertoire that spanned classical musical pieces.
The concert was under the direction of teachers Jessica Colmenares and Rhomy López, co-founders alongside Maestro Álvaro Carrillo of El Sistema Texas, an organization that recently celebrated its first year and works tirelessly with these children, demonstrating that art and music know no boundaries.
This community concert also served as a fundraiser, as the collaboration and contributions from the community help sustain this program of musical education and inclusion for Hispanic children in primary school age, through the creation of orchestras and choirs as instruments of social organization and humanistic development.
According to Maestro Álvaro Carrillo, this concert was “an impressive display of talent, effort, and dedication. Every note, gesture, and smile filled everyone present with emotion.”
He also thanked the children for their passion, commitment, and dedication, urging them to continue pursuing their dreams and love for music. He expressed gratitude to the parents for investing their time and energy in this project and to the teachers for their guidance and patience. “Thank you for inspiring and educating our young talents.”
El Sistema Texas continues with its performances in the last quarter of the year, with the Hispanic Heritage Concert scheduled for October 13th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, and the Christmas Concert Gala on December 17th at La Roca Church.
