Art-based nonprofits carry a unique goal. They help artists succeed in their careers, foster cultural activities in their communities, and promote educational programs made through the lens of their creativity.
Music, from all forms of art, represents a social tool that can transform the world for the better.
Nonprofits can change the lives of disadvantaged populations by offering low-cost programs or financial aid. Learning to play instruments or sing can be a life-changing opportunity for someone who dreams about being a musician but cannot afford to study it. In the long run, they become the artistic voice of a community.
For a society, art-based nonprofits promote community engagement by hosting shows in public spaces. They make performing arts reachable for audiences that cannot access these events.
When these organizations root in their society, local artists become role models. They empower people of all ages, no matter their background.
Doing Good Through Arts
According to the National Council of Nonprofits, there are 1.3 million charitable organizations in the United States. These institutions inspire, enlighten, and nurture people of “every age, gender, race, and socioeconomic status, from coast to coast, border to border, and beyond.”
Americans for the Arts, a 50-year-old nonprofit focused on advancing the arts in the United States, says 100,000 organizations have arts, culture, and humanities as their cause. “The arts provide inspiration and joy to residents, beautify public spaces, and strengthen the social fabric of our communities,” they state on their website.
The organization expresses that art-based nonprofits stimulate the economic growth of their communities by making them more attractive to tourists, and “event-related spending by arts generates valuable revenue for local business owners.”
El Sistema Texas, an Educational Nonprofit
Since its establishment in 2022, El Sistema Texas has offered musical education to 150 children in Houston. Most of these students were born in Hispanic families or were from Latin American countries. This nonprofit aims to educate, inspire, and nurture these young artists through the collective practice of music.
El Sistema Texas has spread its melody in local schools, public spaces, stages, and malls of Houston and surrounding cities. By offering concerts, they have enlightened others and inspired them to join their cause.
Through their students, they have also benefited 400 families; many of their members joined this nonprofit as volunteers who have engaged within Houston communities.
By offering these concerts, workshops, and seminars, this institution has built a strong network of allies who became partners but also donors in their cause.
If you would like to know more about our cause of offering high-quality musical education to children and teenagers of Houston, get in touch with us through our website El Sistema Texas.
