El Sistema Texas will enjoy three days of campfires, fishing and music. From March 13 to 16, the Hispanic Children and Youth Orchestras will enjoy their first-ever Spring Break music seminar at Pazific Ranch in Texas.
The founder and CEO of this nonprofit, Alvaro Carrillo, explained that this annual music camp will allow students to share among their peers and play instruments beyond their classrooms. “Our children have commitments this year, and we want to give them a one-in-a-lifetime experience.”
Teachers, chaperons who are parents, and medical personnel will take care of the students through the three-day camp. Children and teenagers will enjoy recreational activities such as bonfires, movies, time outdoors, fishing, and music. “We will spend a good part of each day making music with rehearsal sessions and workshops,” added Carrillo.
During those rehearsals, the young musicians will practice in depth the repertoire for the Mother’s Day concert, the European tour, and the Children’s Day performance.
In 2025, El Sistema Texas will include the Hispanic Children and Youth Choirs to join in these seminars.
Established in 2022, this nonprofit organization has advocated for equal access to musical education for children and teenagers in Houston, Texas. Since the beginning, their mentors and parents have promoted concerts and performances in schools, parks, malls, and stages.
This year, three of their musicians received local and international recognition for demonstrating proficiency in their musical instruments. You can read about them in this link.
El Sistema Texas’s purpose is to continue providing technical mentoring and emotional support to their children. Their goal is to help them shine through the collective practice of music.
